Troop 479 is a part of the Boy Scouts of America. We were first chartered in April 1982 by the Eden Prairie Rotary Club and then by Pax Christi in 2021. Currently, we have around 40-50 active scouts ages 11-18 that plan and carry out monthly outings. If you would like to learn more about our fantastic outings, please visit "Troop 479 and You," and If you would like to learn more about what our troop does for Pax, please see "Troop 479 and Pax Christi"; both are linked at the bottom of this page.
Troop 479 has a robust set of values that we teach and follow. As a troop, we follow the Scout Law, Scout Oath, and Outdoor Code. These three things give scouts the wisdom necessary to be successful.
The Scout Law teaches a scout to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
The Scout oath teaches a scout to do his duty to god and country, put others before themself, and keep their body, mind, and morals straight.
The Outdoor Code teaches a scout to be clean and considerate in the outdoors, and conservation-minded.
"How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver."
