Meet the dedicated staff who guide our worship life

Fr. Hjalmar Blondal Gudjonsson

Parochial Administrator

Fr. Hjalmar brings a depth of global experience and pastoral commitment to his ministry. Raised in a Lutheran family in Iceland and Sweden, his journey to the Catholic priesthood began with his conversion at age 22.

His path led him to theological studies in Rome, religious life in Austria, and diocesan priesthood in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Ordained in 2023, Fr. Hjalmar previously served in parishes including Divine Mercy in Faribault and has ministered across diverse settings from Hispanic outreach and prison chaplaincy to school communities.

With a background in law, fluency in seven languages, and a love for Rome, music, and cooking, Fr. Hjalmar approaches his vocation with both intellectual rigor and heartfelt compassion. At Pax Christi, he hopes to nurture the sacramental life and build inclusive ministries that reflect the healing, justice-centered mission of the Church.

Laurie Youngers

Director of Music & Worship

Laurie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and Conducting from Briar Cliff University, followed by additional education in musical ministry and theology through various classes, workshops, and certifications.

With 27 years of experience as a Director of Liturgy and Music, Laurie has been part of the Pax Christi community since 2021. Along with her musical and theological interests, Laurie has a cat named Audrey Hepburn.

Joan Howe-Pullis

Liturgy Coordinator & Director of Justice Ministries

Joan serves as both Director of Justice Ministries and Liturgical Coordinator at Pax Christi. With a background in faith leadership and civic engagement, she received a Human Rights Award in 2020 for her commitment to fostering an inclusive, just community.

Joan is deeply engaged in interfaith dialogue, having spoken on behalf of the Eden Prairie Interfaith Circle. In her personal time, she enjoys gardening, walks, and theater.

Rooted in Vatican II

Vatican II brought significant changes to the Catholic Church, emphasizing the importance of the laity, liturgical renewal, and more active participation in the Mass. At Pax Christi, we embrace these principles, striving to create a worship experience that is inclusive, engaging, and spiritually enriching.
