Faith Formation 2022-23 Program Year
Program Year: Will begin the week of October 2
and conclude the week of April 30.
Online Registration: Online registration will be open on
or before July 15, and we will be closing registration on September 15.
Registration requests after that date will be dependent upon space in the
classrooms, the number of volunteers we have, etc.
Program Cost: There is no tuition increase this
year. As in 2021-22, we will charge a registration fee of $85.00 per child,
with a family cap of $200.00. Full tuition scholarships will be granted to
families that serve as a catechist, catechist assistant, small group leader, or
hall monitor. Opportunities to sign-up for these volunteer opportunities will
be included on the registration form.
Program Days and Times: All programs for Pre-K through high school will be
offered on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm. New this year will be a staggered
dismissal time. The program times will be as follows:
- Godly
Play (Pre-K/K) and Finding God (Grades 1-5): 6:30-7:30pm
- PaxConnex
(Grades 6-8) and Chosen (High School): 6:30-8:00pm
Every program evening will include a
COMMUNAL PRAYER SERVICE from 7:45-8:00pm. The prayer services are part of the overall
experience for the Middle School and High School Youth, so they will simply
attend (and sometimes lead!) them with their small groups. The prayer services
will be open to the families of our Preschool and Elementary aged children, but
not required. We would simply ask that a parent be present with the younger children.
Sunday Evening Mass & Meal: The Sunday
evening mass will be returning to a 5pm start time this summer. For those who
want to attend that liturgy before attending class, we will be setting up a
weekly pizza pool. More details about this are included in the registration.
Online Option: We
will continue to offer online/at-home options for all
of our programs. In general, the online/at-home programs will be
self-guided, i.e. we will provide the materials and suggested time line to your
family, but it will be up to you to utilize them. There may be opportunities
for small group discussions and activities via Zoom, but that will depend upon
participant interest, volunteers willing to facilitate those gatherings,
etc.
Sacramental Policies: The sacrament preparation process is part of our
faith formation programs. This includes the sacrament of First Reconciliation,
First Eucharist, and Confirmation. It is our policy that, in order to
participate in the sacrament preparation process, your child needs to either be
registered and regularly attending one of our faith formation programs the
entire year before and the year of the sacrament, or attending a Catholic
school. Minimum age requirements for the sacraments are as follows:
- First
Reconciliation & First Eucharist: 2nd Grade
or Older
- Confirmation: 10th Grade
or Older.
Children and teens who have not been baptized will work
individually with the Director of Faith Formation to prepare, and will most
likely celebrate Baptism at the Easter Vigil.
We also want to stress that faith formation really is a lifelong
commitment. We often times see a drop-off in program participation the year
after celebrating First Eucharist, and perhaps not seeing the children again
until it is time for Confirmation. We encourage your children and teens to
remain active in those “non-sacrament” years so that their faith can continue
to be nourished, strengthened, and deepened.
