Home Study

Home and parish are two of the most important places we learn about our faith. There are experiences at home that could never be replicated at the parish. At the same time, there are experiences of being community that can only happen at the parish. Faith formation ministries at the parish draw us together as the Body of Christ in a unique way. However, we know that sometimes this experience of community is desired but not possible or practical on a regular basis. It may be due to schedules, distance, shared custody, medical reasons, or other causes. We still want you and your children to be part of this important ministry.

Home Study faith formation provides for a supportive experience of learning and growing in faith at home in place of coming to the parish. Parents serve as the catechist. There may be a mix of ages if there are siblings in the household. Sometimes, a few families will come together to form a cluster and share the experience.

Pax Christi provides the materials and support. In addition, you will be provided links to Internet resources for you and your child, including interactive activities for your child. You will be expected to submit samples of your child’s home study work to the Director of Faith Formation on a monthly basis. You can do this in person, by attaching images to an email, or by uploading images through the Seesaw program. You are welcome to connect with the Director of Faith Formation if you have questions, or need supplies from our craft materials closet.

Families in home study are invited and expected to join in our family events. There are usually two events per year where the adults and children enjoy activities together. Please check the faith formation calendar at our faith tab on our website.

Please contact Scott Brazil, Director of Faith Formation, sbrazil@paxchristi.com, or 952-405-7230, if you have any questions.
