Pax Christi’s Twelve Baskets Ministry is dedicated to building a bridge between our Pax Christi community resources and people in need and to provide opportunities for individuals to share their time, talents and resources in the service of others as taught by Jesus.
Our name comes from Luke 9:14–17: “For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, ‘Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.’ They did so and made them all sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.”
Twelve Baskets Ministry is part of the Social Justice Ministry Area. It is a group of committed volunteers who give of their time and talent to plan and execute “Giving Drives” providing goods to partner agencies that address issues of human suffering such as poverty, homelessness, hunger, untimely pregnancies, etc.
