Presented by Dr. Art Zannoni
Dr. Art Zannoni presents Encountering the Compassionate God of the Bible.
The Bible reveals both a compassionate God and Jesus as the compassion
of God. This program will explore the biblical roots of compassion in
both the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and the Gospels. The
presentation will be divide into two parts. The first part will explore
the importance and meaning of the Hebrew and Greek terms for compassion,
followed by examples of how God acts compassionately throughout the
Hebrew Scriptures, especially in the books of Exodus, the Psalms, and
the book of Isaiah. In the second part, emphasis will be placed on
Jesus, who is presented in the Gospels as God's compassion. Examples
will be given of Jesus acting compassionately toward crowds, toward men
and women, at meals, and in the parables that he tells. The presentation
will conclude with a challenge to all faithful followers of Jesus to
act compassionately toward everyone they encounter.
This
event is offered free of charge, though a free will offering would be
appreciated. You can make a donation on this form with a credit card,
otherwise there will be a basket available at the back of the Sanctuary.
