Compassionate Care Listening Circle

A Group for Individuals at a Crossroads

The Compassionate Care Listening Circle provides a safe place for reflection and meaningful conversation as one strives to find an awareness of God in the face of life challenges such as mental illness, loss, caregiving responsibilities, grief, chronic illness, or life transition.

The circle is designed to help those who could benefit from a nurturing environment in a small group setting. Participants will have an opportunity to both give and receive support and to make a deeper connection with God and oneself. We invite you to come and share your experience with others.

The Compassionate Care Listening Circle is free of charge and meets on the third Thursday of each month from 3:00-4:30pm.

If you would like additional information or if you would like to join this group, contact Joan Miltenberger, Director of Care and Support Ministry, 952-405-7211, or

Participants must be willing to:

•    commit themselves to an honest relationship with God,
•    participate wholeheartedly in the group process through prayerful listening and response,
•    open their spiritual journeys for consideration by others.

(Excerpt from, Group Spiritual Direction: Commitment for Discernment, by Rose Mary Dougherty)

Each meeting will include:

An opening ritual with prayer as well as time to share our stories and receive support around a particular topic.

This is not a therapy or counseling support group.

Sample group topics:

Compassion, Listening Within, Relaxation and Breathing, Forgiveness, Resiliency, Transformation, Prayer, Hope, Gratitude.

Wholeness does not mean perfection: it means embracing brokenness as an integral part of life. Knowing this gives me hope that human wholeness-mine, yours, ours-need not be a utopian dream, if we can use devastation as a seedbed for new life.    –Parker J. Palmer
