Twelve Baskets
Who are we? We are a committed group of volunteers from the parish who give of our time and talent to plan and execute ‘Giving Drives’ at Pax Christi. We are directed by the Pax Christi Social Justice Department.
What do we believe? (Mission Statement) Pax Christi’s Twelve Basket Ministry is dedicated to building a bridge between community resources and people in need, and to providing opportunities for individuals to share their time and talents in the service of others.
What do we do? We meet once each month (currently on Thursdays) to discuss the specific needs for goods and services by Partner Agencies who exist to address issues of human suffering i.e. poverty, homelessness, hunger, torture, oppression, untimely pregnancies, etc… We use our meetings to discuss and plan the upcoming drives
Where did we get our name? For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Make them sit down in companies, about fifty each.” And they did so, and made them all sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were satisfied. And they took up what was left over, twelve baskets of broken pieces. Luke 9:14-17
