ANOINTING OF THE SICK

The anointing of the sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. When this sacrament is administered, the priest lays his hands on the head of the sick, silently prays for them, and then anoints the person with the oil of the sick, one of the three blessed oils used sacramentally, on their forehead and hands. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be celebrated at a home, a bedside or communally. Individual anointings can be scheduled through Pastoral Care staff and all are welcome to join in the annual anointing of the sick service. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

BAPTISM

Baptism incorporates us with Christ and forms us into God's people. It is the first sacrament of initiation. The Catholic Church baptizes people of all ages--from infants to adults. To help prepare individuals and families for this sacrament, the Church offers various forms of formation. At Pax Christi families choosing to baptize their infant are invited to attend a Baptism Preparation Workshop which offers insight and guidance concerning the Sacrament of Baptism. CONFIRMATION

Confirmation is a true sacrament instituted by Christ and different from baptism. It is administered by laying-on of hands and anointing with chrism accompanied by prayer. The chrism is blessed by the bishop and the bishop administers the sacrament. All baptized persons can and should be confirmed. The effect of the sacrament of confirmation is to give strength in faith and for the confession of faith and to impress an indelible character. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

EUCHARIST

Both the preparation for and the celebration of the sacraments at Pax Christi belong to the whole parish community. By this it is understood that all members of the community have important contributions to make in supporting those in sacramental preparation. This approach also means that the active presence of the community is essential for sacramental celebration. The sacraments are a gift from God to be shared for the benefit of the individual, the community and the world. All participants involved in sacramental preparation are expected to be members of the parish and registered in one of the ongoing faith formation programs. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

HOLY ORDERS

Holy Orders is the sacrament by which men are ordained to be of service to the Church as priests, deacons or bishops. While all of the baptized are 'ordained' to a life of service and commitment to Jesus Christ, the Church calls upon some of its members to serve the community in a different way through the Sacrament of ministerial priesthood. MARRIAGE

Like all sacraments, the preparation for, and celebration of the sacrament of Marriage is grounded in the life and ministry of the parish. As primary ministers of the sacrament, the couple benefits from the experience and support of the community. At the same time, the couple’s love for each other gives the community a glimpse of Christ’s love for the Church, and thus is a blessing and support to the parish. RCIA - RIGHT OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (and adapted for children) is the way that the Catholic Church welcomes people into the Church. RCIA is much more than a program; it is a process in which conversion of the heart brings one to Jesus Christ through learning, discussion, prayer, and community. Inquiry will start in October. Participants are invited to grow more deeply in their faith and discern if joining the Catholic Church or completing one's initiation into the Church is what they desire. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO
