Pax CAFÉ Catholic Adult Formation and Enrichment
You've seen the heading, "Pax CAFÉ." It is a title we use to refer to offerings that are of interest to adults in their spiritual formation and growth. "CAFÉ" stands for "Catholic Adult Formation and Enrichment." Pax CAFÉ covers many different topics and uses a number of different learning styles.
Many Catholics feel like they "graduated" from their Catholic education if they went to Catholic Grade School or High School; some even feel that way after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. At Pax Christi, our parish mission reminds us that we are life-long learners in our faith development. There will never come a time when we know everything there is to know about God and the way God acts in this world. There will never come a time when we have our own Christian lives completely figured out and know exactly how to act and what to choose in every situation. Our Christian education continues until the day we die.
"For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face." –1 Corinthians 13:12
Your stewardship makes these opportunities possible. If you have ideas or interests you would like to see developed here at the parish, please call the office and let us know.
Pax CAFÉ Offerings for 2010–2011
• Sundays @ Pax CAFÉ Sundays, 6:30–7:45pm, beginning September 19 (offered on Sundays when faith formation sessions for children are scheduled) The goal of this program is to offer a wide variety of topical presentations and discussions on what it means to be Catholic today and what the Church teaches. Substantial reading (8-10 books) on Catholic social teaching and issues of local, national, and global poverty form the main content. There is a $125 charge to help cover the cost of the materials. Scholarships are available. A separate registration is required.

• Engaging Spirituality Sunday, August 29, 10:00–11:00am
Opening Retreat Saturday, September 18, 9:00am–5:00pm.
First Session September 20, 6:30-8:30pm. Other sessions on Mondays, 6:30-8:30pm, (21 weeks)
[Special information session will be held August 29 from 10:00-11:00am in Room #239] Pax CAFÉ presents a spiritually deepening process that invites small groups of adult Christians to explore the intersection between contemplative presence and social action, as it is lived out in their own lives. Engaging Spirituality focuses on the practical challenges of following Jesus into the broken heart of our world, inspired by the urgency and spirit of the Gospel message to our lives, to our relationships, and to our times. Participants practice "the undivided life" of Christian discipleship-engaging in contemplation while immersing ourselves in the heart of our fragmented world. There is a $100 fee to help cover the cost of the materials. Scholarships are available. A separate registration is required.
