Rodgers, Marlin Dean of Eden Prairie, passed away on January 16, 2012 at the age of 79. He was born in Mason City, IA in 1932 to George and Neta Rodgers. Marlin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; their 7 children, Scott Rodgers (Becky), Liz Daniels, Craig Rodgers (Sally), Diane Flynn (Bob), Tom Rodgers (Sharon), Dan Rodgers (Nikki), and Theresa Giustra (John); 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alicia Siebert and 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas. Marlin retired in 1987 after a 34 year career with Northwestern Bell and AT&T. Special thanks go to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Frauenshuh Cancer Center and Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. Bauer, Paul G. age 60, passed away Dec. 13th, 2011 at the Golden Living Center, Minneapolis, MN after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was a long time resident of Champlin, MN where he raised his family and was a former member of the City Planning Commission. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, running, and boating. He is survived by his sons, Tom (Laura) Bauer of Glencoe, IL; Justin (Sarah) Bauer of Lindenhurst, IL; granddaughters, Serena and Sylvia Bauer of Glencoe, IL; former wife of 27 years, Linda (Johnson) Bauer of Minnetonka, MN and a sister, Gera (Gary) Leider of Merrill, WI, plus 2 nieces and 1 nephew, other relatives and friends. Schuller, Jim (James E) Age 82, passed away January 1, 2012. Survived by wife, Ellen and sisters, Marcella Schuller, OSF, Marge Mazurek, Bette Jo Schick, Therese VanZuilen, and Joan Heuer. Catholic Youth Center, and as director of social services at HCMC. Dorniden, Charles "Chuck" age 68 of Eden Prairie, passed away on January 2nd, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary "Kari"; daughters, Amy (Michael) Johansen, and Ann Dorniden; 2 granddaughters, Madeline and Amelia; brother, Barry (Anita) Dorniden; niece, Claire and nephew, Grant; other relatives and many dear friends. Chuck retired after 30 years of teaching in the Mpls School System. He was active in the Mpls Retired Teachers Association and was a volunteer for Bridging. He loved traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Vinella, Irene E. (Vlasak) age 87 born July 14, 1924, died on December 26, 2011 from health complications. Mom was a saint and an angel put in this world by God to touch many with her strength, gentle spirit and compassion. Preceded in death by her infant daughter, Karen Jean and daughter- in-law, Sue Vinella (Keenan). Patrick Kennedy officiating. Marge was born in Johnston City, IL. She was a 1958 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Evanston, IL and a 1977 graduate of Purdue University where she received a BS as a nurse practitioner. Shortly thereafter she was hired by St. Margaret's Hospital, Hammond, IN, as a Community Health Coordinator, retiring in 1993. Kennedy, Virginia Caroline (nee Brand) 86, died peacefully in Naples, Florida, on Saturday, July 2, 2011. Virginia was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 12, 1925, to Albert and Anna Brand. She attended St. Luke's grade school and St. Joseph Academy. Virginia spent many summers at her parents' lake home on the St. Croix River in Prescott, Wisconsin. She worked for the Great Northern Railroad and married Al Kennedy in 1948, when she started her new lifelong, selfless career of motherhood and homemaker. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Alois Daniel Kennedy, Jr.; her children, Reverend Patrick Kennedy, Mary Kennedy, Kathleen Burke, Virginia (Peter) Loeffler, Daniel (Janet) Kennedy, Cynthia (Robert) Snyder, Margaret (Steve) Polacek, and Ann Kennedy; son-in-law, Timothy Forrest; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Virginia is predeceased by her daughter, Judith Ann Forrest; son-in-law, Michael Burke; sisters, Lorraine (John) Welch and Alice (Tom) Battis; brothers, Robert and Charles (Athena) Brand. Virginia was a loyal wife, devoted mother, loving sister, sweet aunt, authentic friend, patient listener. Her true legacy will show in the gifts to her children in the forms of fervent prayer, faith, and unconditional love. Survived by six children, Connie (Michael) Wittek, Ed, Jr. (Dorothy), Joan, Greg (Connie), Peter (Julie), and David (Duchie); 17 grandchildren, Kate, Dan, and Greg Wittek, Theresa Haider, John, and Mathew Van Hoven, Michelle Wells, Rebecca Zwart, Kelly VanderVoort, Nicole Eaton, and Liz Schwebach, Sarah Thelen, Renee Lemon, and Phil Van Hoven, Helen LaRoue, Peter, Jr., and Rachel Van Hoven; as well as 19 great-grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews, and friends, including dear friend of 80 years, Bettie Willems. Mary Jane graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1942. Her life centered on being a wife and mother, and in these she excelled. She was a longtime member of MCCL and supported a variety of pro-life causes. She enjoyed oil painting, and her work can be seen in the homes of all her children and grandchildren! Mary Jane's family would especially like to thank her caregivers including Mike Gmitro, MD, Bethany Grommesh, MD, as well as all those who ministered to her at both Friendship Village and Methodist Hospital. George Melvin Waletzko, of Bloomington, lived his 84 years with a twinkle in his eye and a tune on his lips. On June 30, he died and went to heaven. George was always ready with a story, a joke and a grin. He was a hardworking man of great character - clearly devoted to God and to his family. He loved to dance and play cards, listen to polka and play the concertina. George was born Nov. 1, 1926 to Charles and Mary (Wilczek) Waletzko in Holdingford, Minn., and he graduated from Upsala High School. He married Elsie Lucille (Schwientek) Waletzko on May 20, 1947, and they raised six children in St. Cloud, Minn.: Ken (Barb) Waletzko of Bloomington, Don (Biddy) Waletzko of Maple Grove, Kathy (Mike) McCann of Eden Prairie, Chuck (Denise) Waletzko of Bloomington, Nancy (Chuck) Nistler of St. Cloud and Lori (Dave) Fritzlar of Bloomington. George started his own business, Waletzko Woodworking and Construction Contractors, and he loved his work building homes and making cabinetry. He also served in the Army and was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. After retirement, he spent winters in Ft. Myers, Fla. Elsie died July 20, 1989. George married Dorothy Gerlach McCann Waletzko on June 15, 1990 and gained four stepchildren: Pat (Patti) McCann of Hudson, Wisc., Mike (Kathy) McCann of Eden Prairie, Mary (Bill) Boom of Avon and Colleen (Fred) Ziebol of Eden Prairie. The couple were active members of Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie and Resurrection Parish in Ft. Myers, Fla. Dorothy died Sept. 1, 2009. George is so special to so many. He will be missed beyond words by his children, 27 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and sister and brothers: Lorraine (Mike) White of St. Cloud, Ray (Jo) Waletzko of Holdingford, Wally (Jeanette) Waletzko of Avon, Eddie (Mary Ann) Waletzko of Waite Park, sister-in-laws Jean Waletzko of Avon and Gladys Psick of Royalton, and brother-in-law Bob (Mary) Gerlach of Baxter. In heaven, he is reunited with his parents, his first wife, Elsie, his second wife, Dorothy, his brothers Norbert and James and his brother-in-law Leonard Psick. Ryman, Fred E. "Fritz" age 97, of Bloomington, died peacefully on June 22, 2011 at Friendship Village after a long, rich and full life. Fritz was born Feb. 9, 1914 in Mpls. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia Ryman; parents, Fred & Kathryn Ryman; brother, Marsh Ryman; sister, Jeanne Crone and great-grandson, Ben Hamlin. Survived by his daughters, Jane E. Danielson and Mary (Chuck) Killian of St. Paul; grandsons, Judd (Sherry) Danielson of Luck, WI, Jay (Janelle) Danielson of Mound, MN, Tony (Julie) Killian and Josh (Susan) Killian of Mendota Heights, MN and 11 great- grandchildren. Fritz grew up in Minneapolis, graduating from Central High School and attending the University of MN. He enjoyed all sports and was an accomplished tennis and hockey player, bowler, horseshoe player and golfer. He was a longtime member at Interlachen Country Club, where he was a single-digit handicapper and competed in the Mpls Senior League, as well as for the Mpls Athletic Club, where he was a long- standing, active member. He golfed until he was 84, when he shot his age, and had 4 holes-in-one in his lifetime. He was a member of Twin Cities Dunkers for nearly 50 years and attended meetings regularly, even as late as Feb. of this year. Of all the sports, he probably enjoyed baseball the most and had a great affection for the Minnesota Twins. He loved all the University of Minnesota teams and had great admiration for them and the University because of his affiliation there, and his brother Marsh's long history with the University of MN, including being Athletic Director from 1963 to 1972. He had a long and successful career in the shelter building materials business, where he was highly respected, genuinely liked, and made many long lasting relationships. He started with the B.F. Nelson Roofing Co. in NE Mpls and became a salesman in 1935 and worked in Nebraska, St. Paul and Mpls. He went on to become Vice President of Sales and a board member of the B.F. Nelson Co. before they were acquired by the Certainteed Corp. He then became Vice President and Regional Sales Manager for Certainteed and continued to work for them even after moving to Arizona in 1976. He finally retired in 1982 after nearly 50 years in the business. He returned to Minnesota after the death of his wife Virginia in 1999 and enjoyed living at Friendship Village. He will be missed dearly by family, friends and colleagues. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. Fellowship and time to greet the family will take place starting at 10 AM at the church before the Mass and continues at the luncheon to follow. Memorials preferred to the University of MN Williams Scholarship Fund, The Fairview Hospice Program, or the Friendship Village Employee Fund.

He was an honored veteran of the United States Army. Jim enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend; and his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Marcus John Mace, 49, of Shakopee, passed away on May 25, 2011 at his sister’s home in Eden Prairie after a courageous battle with cancer. Marc was born on August 2, 1961 in Montevideo, MN to the late Wilbert and Agnes Mace. He was a 1979 graduate of Montevideo High School and attended Pipestone Technical College. On June 14, 1986, Marc married Jaclyn Waasdorf of Fergus Falls and they welcomed a son, Trevor, who was Marc’s joy. He most recently was employed by the Mdewakanton Sioux Community in the Public Works Department. Marc was an active member and Trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 4120. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and the Twins and Vikings. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, for his smile, story-telling, his willingness to always help others, and his ability to make people laugh. Marc is survived by his son, Trevor, of Sartell, sisters Barbara Mace (Jerry Stepaniak) of East Bethel; Joan Waterstreet (Keith) of Eden Prairie; brothers Joseph Mace (Debra) and Michael Mace (Laurie) of Montevideo, along with nephews and nieces, Kyle, Kevin, Christi Jo, Elizabeth, Anna, Luke, Jesse, and Jenny. He is also survived by Jackie, Terry and Greta Evavold, uncle Archie Mace, and aunt Beatrice Cline. A special thank you to his oncologists, Dr. Joseph Leach and Dr. Lorre Ochs, the staff he loved at St. Francis Medical Center, the Allina Hospice team and his hospice nurse, Tammy Nyman. Lex, Paula Lippl Born in Palmberg in the Bavarian forest on November 19, 1924. Paula was the youngest of 12 children of Katharina and George Lippl. Paula survived a childhood in war torn Germany, came to America at the age of 26, settled in Mankato, Minnesota and there met the love of her life, Henry. Although proud of her American citizenship, Paula always kept her homeland in her heart and enriched the lives of her family and friends with her many German traditions. Paula was an extraordinary woman who lived out her strong Catholic faith by devoting countless hours to serve the needs of multiple church missions. Over the years, Paula also volunteered her time to cook meals and collect goods for the homeless, serve as a cub scout leader, sew blankets for those in need, and work on the Friendship Village "White Elephant Sale" fund-raising project for many years. In addition to her love of helping others, Paula was also a loving and devoted wife, mother, oma and friend. We will miss her engaging ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone she met, her delicious German cooking, her love of singing and yodeling, and her endless supply of knitted mittens and booties. Duncan, Abbey Christine age 27, of New York, Connecticut, and Bloomington, MN. Abbey was a graduate of the Academy of Holy Angels in 2001 and received her bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota in 2007. She then received her 200 RYT from Corepower Yoga in Minneapolis Minnesota the Summer of 2007. Abbey was a beautiful dancer who found a way to inspire the lives of many through the arts. She danced for Minnesota Dance Theater formally known as Ballet Arts Minnesota and spent time in other dance studios on the east coast. She was an avid environmentalist who believed in doing right for everything and everyone around her. She was a caring and nurturing daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She also worked as a hydrogeologist in Connecticut at Leggette, Brashears & Graham Inc., and for the City of New York at the Office of Environmental Remediation, and found herself connected to a number of communities that were blessed with her presence. Her light and love touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten. The wake will take place on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 4-6pm at the Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel located at 5000 West 50th & Highway 100 Edina, MN 55436. Mary Jo Kummet-Weiss, age 57 of Eden Prairie, MN passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at her sister’s home in Eden Prairie, MN surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Eden Prairie, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Pax Christi Catholic Church. Mary Jo Kummet Weiss was born on February 17, 1953 in Little Falls, Morrison County, MN to Joseph and Clara (Paulsen) Kummet. She grew up in Lastrup, MN and later moved with her family to Pierz, MN. She attended and graduated from Pierz Healy High School in 1971. Following high school, Mary moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked for the Pillsbury Company for seven years. In June of 1973, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Weiss at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. They later divorced. Mary worked part-time for Farmers Insurance Group in the district office in Brooklyn Center, MN. In December of 1980, she moved to Little Falls, MN where she worked for Dick Marshik Insurance Agency as a licensed insurance agent. In June of 1986, Mary became employed with the Little Falls School District in the district office. Mary moved to Minneapolis in 1999 where she worked for Jerry’s Enterprises until August of 2010 when her declining health forced her to resign. She enjoyed planning parties, traveling and spending time with her friends and family. In 2003, Mary’s daughter, Vanessa, was killed in an automobile accident. As a result of that accident, Mary went to the Minnesota State Legislature and was able to have a law put into place called “Vanessa’s Law” - unlicensed teens who receive crash-related moving citations or alcohol or controlled substance citations may not receive a driver's license until age 18- which was signed into law by Governor Tim Pawlenty. Mary was a co-leader of the Minneapolis Chapter of Compassionate Friends, member of the Minnesotans for Safe Driving, Minnesota Safety Belt Coalition, American Cancer Society, Keep a Breast Foundation and Pax Christi Catholic Church in Eden Prairie, MN. Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her children, Sarah (Trevor) Gunderson of Greenfield, MN, son, Joseph (Jessica) Weiss of Lions Bay, British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Joslyn & Caleb Weiss; brothers, John Kummet and George (LyAnn) Kummet all of Pierz, MN and a sister, Maureen Voltin of Eden Prairie, MN. She was preceded in death by her daughter Vanessa Weiss, in 2003 and her parents, Joseph and Clara Kummet.
