Pax Christi Crossroads Fund

The purpose of the Pax Christi Crossroads Fund is to establish over a period of three years, a pool of $4 million in funds, of which $1.5 million will be held in reserve and the remainder used for necessary infrastructure and building needs. Pax Christi’s Crossroads Fund provides an extraordinary opportunity for the members of our faith community to move forward the mission and vision of tomorrow’s Pax Christi.

If the walls and grounds of Pax Christi would speak,
what story of yours would they tell?

There are places I remember all my life,
though some have changed, some forever, not for better
some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moments of lovers and
friends I still can recall some are dead and some are
living in my life I loved them all.

–In My Life The Beatles

Many times people are moved to exhort, “If these walls could only talk.”  Left unsaid are the stories that a particular building would tell if it only could.  Walk into any old, abandoned building, and encased behind the brick and mortar, memories whisper of those who have come before. The story a building can tell begins long before the foundation is laid.  It begins with a dream that is shared and develops as more assemble to lend form to the vision.  It takes the time and talents and treasure of many to plan and design, construct, and breathe life into the dream.  Once a building is completed, the care, or stewardship of that building, becomes the responsibility of its inhabitants. Twenty-six years ago the initial foundation of this building took form, and through the years, Pax Christi’s walls have witnessed joy and celebration, provided refuge and comfort as members worshipped and loved and grew this community of faith and all those who have come together here have left their indelible mark upon the walls of this building.  An integral part of stewardship is to lovingly care for all that we have, including this facility which proclaims the story of Pax Christi.  Caring for our facility and grounds is one of the reasons for the establishment of the Pax Christi Crossroads Fund.  Through this fund, which we hope to grow to $4 million, we will be able to provide for the needs of our facility that have been identified and prioritized by our leadership and staff.  These needs include improvements to the relocated chapel, long deferred maintenance, technology, hospitality, and safety improvements for the facility and grounds, expansion of the pastoral care outreach fund, as well as reduction of existing debt.

Over the next months, there will be several opportunities for members of this community to learn more about these identified needs and how they may be answered by participation in the Crossroads Fund.  We encourage all to make every attempt to learn about the Crossroads Fund and prayerfully consider how your household is called to support this extraordinary opportunity to serve the Pax Christi Catholic Community. Feel free to contact Mary Kennedy, Pax Christi’s Director of Stewardship, mkennedy@paxchristi.com, to receive more information or get your questions answered about the Crossroads Fund.
